Laura Mills-Alcott grew up in NE Ohio writing Country Music,
and moved to Nashville after she graduated from high school. While in Nashville, she met a lot of very cool and talented people, learned a lot about the music business, and some of her music was recorded. Laura's favorite Country songs were the story songs, and she experienced a great deal of frustration trying to fit an entire novel into three verses, a bridge and a chorus. |

Finally, she decided it was time to write a book, and her first book, "The Briar and the Rose" was born. Based on the beloved ballad "Barbara Allen", "The Briar and the Rose" is a historical romance, with a touch of paranormal, set in England and Ireland during the Regency. Laura and her work have been featured in numerous magazines, on websites like NBC.com, MSN.com and CNN.com, on the Talk America Radio Network, and she acted as the consultant for NBC's daytime talk show, The Other Half, for a segment dealing with why women read romance novels. Besides writing novels, Laura writes articles, short stories, and the occasional celebrity interview, and of course, she's the host of Country Music Time, where she hangs out with some old friends, makes some new friends, and talks about one of the things she loves most in life - Country Music! In her spare time, Laura still plays her guitar, the piano and her French horn, and has a violin that she swears she's going to teach herself to play one day. She listens to music endlessly, and every now and then sits down to write a song. Laura lives in NE Ohio with her children, three dogs and too many cats. Her oldest son, Jared, is a singer, songwriter and a United States Marine (Semper Fi!). Her daughter, Jordan, is a singer and a majorette. "Walk the Line" made a big impression on her youngest son, Jacob, who now knows every Johnny Cash song by heart and is learning to play the trumpet. |
